It’s starting to get real you guys. I even did a little recon mission today but first I can’t wait to show you the mockup.
I polled you over the last couple weeks and asked what style calendar to do and the results are clear… You’d rather have a wall calendar!
Here’s a mockup I put together for October of this year, just so show you a little bit what it will look like:
I’m actually really glad you chose the wall calendar style because it sparked another (crazy) idea.
I combed through aaaaall Finger Lakes hashtags on Instagram looking for the very best, most popular, “must do” events and festivals in the Finger Lakes. There are tons…
Anyway, with the wall style calendar there is room on the grid for me to include a select number of events and festivals!
This is a perfect fit for my intention of the calender… To inspire you to get out and do stuff in the Finger Lakes!
About that recon mission. I went to my favorite local book store (Longs’) because they have their massive selection of calendars out for 2015 already. I wanted to kind of scope out the competition and see what’s out there for local-ish calendars.
There’s one of gorgeous Finger Lakes Waterfalls… it’s big and beautiful! I’m going to go the opposite direction – small and affordable (that big waterfall one is 15 bucks!). I want you to buy a few (they’ll make great Christmas gifts…). My calendar will be about 6″ by 9″ (a little bit bigger than a piece of computer paper folded in half.
But you know what I didn’t see? Any local calendars with Finger Lakes Festivals and Events printed right on it… :)
I could use your eyeballs on this… these are the ones that stand out as the “must do” events and festivals. What am I missing?
